From 23 to 26 May 2024<\/strong>, the fourth edition of the ‚Galileo Galilei Science&Space Festival‘<\/strong> will take place in Frankfurt and Darmstadt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This festival is dedicated to the popularisation of scientific culture and topics and to highlighting the extraordinary network of Italian researchers in Italy and abroad.<\/p>\n

This science festival, which is free and open to the public, subject to prior booking, is intended once again this year to be a concrete testimony to the leading role played by Italy in the field of fundamental science and technological research. The fourth edition presents some important novelties.<\/p>\n

It starts on Thursday 23 May, at 7 p.m., at the Physikalischer Verein<\/strong> in Frankfurt (Robert-Mayer-Str.2\/FFM) – which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year – with a lectio magistralis<\/em> by Prof. Gian Francesco GIUDICE,<\/strong> Director of the Department of Theoretical Physics at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory based in Geneva, who will speak on the theme „Before the Big Bang – How the Universe began and what came before.“<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Prof. Luciano Rezzolla of the J. W. Goethe-Universit\u00e4t Frankfurt will moderate the meeting, in English.<\/p>\n

On Saturday 25 May<\/strong>, the Festival will move to Darmstadt,<\/strong> this time to the EUMETSAT Gallery Room<\/strong> (Eumetsat Allee, 1 – Darmstadt), where, starting at 16:45<\/strong>, we will have the opportunity to listen to Dr. Paolo RUTI<\/strong> (Chief Scientist of EUMETSAT), who will give a lecture on EUMETSAT OPERATION AND INNOVATION – A direct linking with the international user community to enhance daily life,<\/em> introduced and moderated by Dr. Flavio Murolo. This will be followed by a lecture by Prof. Dr. Marco DURANTE (<\/strong>GSI-FAIR) on Space radiation to cure cancer on Earth<\/em> (moderated by Prof. Silvia Masciocchi), a breaking news in Italian by Prof. Telmo PIEVANI<\/strong> of the Univ. of Padua on Communicating science: an interweaving of languages<\/em> (introduced by Prof. Alberica Toia), and finally the talk, in Italian, by Dr. Giulio PINZAN<\/strong> (ESA) on Discovering the Moons of Jupiter: Juice an unprecedented mission<\/em> (moderated by Dr. Paolo Ferri).<\/p>\n

And finally, this year’s festival will close on Sunday 26 May, 7 p.m<\/strong>., at the Internationales Theater in Frankfurt<\/strong> (Hanauer Landstr. 7 \/FFM – Zoo-Passage) with an English-language ‚Science meets Music‘ show<\/em> <\/strong>entitled: „Space and nature are bigger than us – Six memos for Humankind“ <\/strong>with Telmo Pievani<\/strong><\/em> and Paolo Ferri<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n
